AIDS WALK LA ...Sunday, Oct 19th

Hello fellow Blades,

The Coors Cup tournament has come and gone, and most can agree that it was a success in many areas. As we have all said and heard many times over the years.. " it was a lot of fun hanging out and catching up with friends and teammates, from the past and present". Well, another opportunity is coming along and lets us all get together for a fun 6 mile walk for a good cause that has touched many of us in some way, shape, or form.

On Sunday, October 19th, there is the AIDS WALK !!! In the past ( 2001, 2002), we had put together a team and walked in a group 20 ppl strong. we raised a decent amount of $$, and had a blast doing it. It has since lost interest, so I am making a plea to get it up and running again.
I am already leading a team from the Polo Lounge at Beverly Hills Hotel, and not sure I can be a team leader on both, but would be happy to get things set up if there is an interest. If you would like to walk as The LA Blades, let me know ASAP, and I will get it going. The "giving back to the community" looks good on our resume when we look for corporate sponsors for upcoming tournaments, fundraisers, etc.

There are four ways to participate:

1) Join fellow Blades players and walk as team LA BLADES, raise $$ with online donations. ( once you register, the site walks you through fundraising ideas, your personal online donation page, templates to send others in regard to joining our team, donations, thank you's etc etc ..)

2) Join team Polo Lounge, and walk with a team I have already organized with 15 very cool people. ( see above )

3) Sponsor Me as I will be walking, and want to raise a LOT OF $$$

4) Do Nothing, and delete this e-mail

I hope you all make a decision based on how you feel in your heart, and I will love you either way!
Peace,Doug Brotherhood

Mike "Denver" Dontanville

We are saddened that long-time Blade and friend Mike Dontanville suddenly passed away while playing volleyball this week. Our prayers go out to his partner, friends, and family at this shocking loss. Mike Denver was our friend, our teammate and our Blades brother. He was a sweet, generous, caring, loving man who we will never forget. He made us laugh so many times. We cannot believe he is gone…too soon too fast, but we know he was happy with his life. We will miss him very much.

Blades Torrance Team Advances to the Championship Game this Sunday March 2, 6:15PM

The LA Blades intermediate/advanced team advanced into the WPHA Championship game with a 6-5 overtime win on Wednesday night. We were down two goals, two times during the game, including late into the third period when Andrew and Pete came through with late game heroics, Andrew tying the game with less than 20 seconds remaining and Pete scoring in overtime. Richard played outstanding in goal, stopping numerous point blank shots including a late game pressure save on a full breakaway which could have sealed Blades loss.
In addition to Andrew's offensive prowlness, as mentioned, Peter scored the game winner about a minute into a four on four 20 minute sudden death over time period. Both Pete and Ryan, fresh off a 12 + hour plane trip earlier in the day returning from two weeks in Australia made other huge contributions on the ice, playing nearly every other shift as we had eleven skaters.
Our entire Blades team played their hearts out resulting in the upcoming Championship game.
The WPHA Championship Game is this Sunday, March 2, 6:15PM at Skating Edge Area, 23770 S Western Ave, Harbor City, CA, 90710.
Come out and support your LA Blades in what promises to be an exciting and fast paced game as we are pitted against a very solid, fast skating, physical hockey team.

Blades Players Rank Top of Level 6

The Level 6 Blades keep winning and scoring this Fall Season! Brynne Van Putten commented, "I can't keep track of all the great plays and who scored how many goals. They just keep coming. I think just about everyone of our forwards scored. Richard was amazing in net even without the warm-up. It seemed like he was flying from side to side. I was exhausted just watching him. The passing and teamwork was fantastic. We are truly a team."
Keith Michaelson currently ranks #1, and other recently top ranked players include Mark Terwilliger, Peter Bentley, Carl Cliver, Ryan Gallacher, and Dino Carrere. Congratulations to all of the Blades for an amazing season!

Blades Level 2 Season Starting
